Three New Direct-Fit Diesel Fuel Tanks for IC Bus Fleets

Cleveland Tank & Supply has added three new steel diesel fuel tanks to its lineup, each engineered as a direct-fit aftermarket replacement for school bus fleets running IC Bus chassis: the RS1540CC-50, RS1540CC-51 and RS15100LC-51. All three are cross-referenced to specific IC Bus OEM part numbers, so fleet maintenance teams can order the exact replacement tank their bus needs instead of guessing at fitment or paying for custom fabrication.

If a factory fuel tank is leaking, rusted or otherwise failing, a direct-fit replacement tank mounts between the frame rails using the same footprint as the original equipment tank, with no cutting, drilling or welding required. That matters most for school bus operators, where a tank failure means a bus sitting out of service instead of running its route. Each of these three new tanks is pressure tested for leak-free performance before it ships and carries full DOT-approved fuel tank certification for diesel fuel use.

RS1540CC-50 — 40-Gallon Steel Fuel Tank for IC Bus

The RS1540CC-50 is a 40-gallon rectangular steel diesel fuel tank cross-referenced to IC Bus OEM part numbers 4121690C91 and 4048869C95. It measures 28.75″ L × 25″ W × 15.50″ H, weighs 110 lbs and mounts between the frame rails.

RS1540CC-51 — 40-Gallon Steel Fuel Tank for IC Bus

The RS1540CC-51 shares the same 40-gallon capacity and 28.75″ L × 25″ W × 15.50″ H footprint as the RS1540CC-50, but cross-references a different application: IC Bus OEM part number 6123653C93. It also mounts between the frame rails and weighs 110 lbs.

RS15100LC-51 — 100-Gallon Steel Fuel Tank for IC Bus

For higher-capacity routes, the RS15100LC-51 is a 100-gallon steel diesel fuel tank cross-referenced to IC Bus OEM part number 4137183C91. It measures 72″ L × 25″ W × 15.25″ H, weighs 190 lbs and mounts between the frame rails with a passenger-side fill configuration.

Built for Corrosion Resistance and Long Service Life

All three tanks share the same core construction: heavy-duty mild-grade steel with an internal rust-preventive coating and a gloss black powder coat exterior finish, the same corrosion-resistant approach used across Cleveland Tank’s rectangular steel tank lineup. Every tank ships ready to install with a magnetic drain plug, rollover protection vent, vent tubing, fuel cap, drawtube, return fitting, equalizer fitting and sending unit flange. A sending unit, sight gauge, locking fuel cap and drain check valve are available as optional add-ons at checkout.

Installation is straightforward with the right hardware. Cleveland Tank’s mounting straps, brackets, and rubber insulators are sized to match this tank family, including the stainless steel mounting strap SS5800TT200-00, bracket insulator RIF1.50 and strap insulator RI2.00-01.

Confirm Fitment Before Ordering

Capacity and mounting configuration for IC Bus fuel tanks can vary by model year and build, even within the same chassis family. Before ordering any of these three tanks, confirm exact fitment against your chassis VIN or your existing OE tank part number. If you’re not sure which tank matches your bus, contact Cleveland Tank’s team for help cross-referencing your part number.
