Description
Not every fuel tank vents through a separate line — many rely on the fuel cap itself to let air into the tank as fuel is drawn out. Put a non-vented cap on one of those systems and you risk vacuum lock: fuel flow slows or stalls because the tank can’t equalize pressure. The FC980 is built specifically as a vented cap, so it does that job correctly on systems designed around a vented cap rather than a plumbed equalizer.
It shares the same corrosion-resistant aluminum body and 3.00-inch, 8 TPI female-thread fitting as Cleveland Tank’s other locking fuel caps, along with an integrated lock to guard against fuel theft and tampering. The difference that matters here is functional, not cosmetic — get the vented/non-vented spec wrong and the tank won’t perform right, so confirm your OE cap’s venting before ordering a replacement.
